Job Title: Community Engagement Worker

Location: Family Support Centre, Bridge Shopping Centre, Portsmouth

Hours: 25 hours per week

Working Pattern: Worked flexibly between 9am and 6pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday

Salary: £15,600 per annum

Closing date: Friday 6th September at 5pm

Since moving into our vibrant new family support centre, we have experienced a tremendous surge in face-to-face engagements with families eager to get involved or seeking support. This increased interaction underscores the vital role our centre plays in the community, and we are now seeking a creative and passionate individual to join our team to help us continue this impactful work.

Your Role:

As our Community Engagement Worker, you will be the friendly face and creative force at our new centre, where every day brings new opportunities to inspire, support, and engage with the families who walk through our doors. This role goes beyond just a job; it’s about crafting and leading a lively, diverse programme of activities that resonate with our community. Moreover, it's about creating a safe and welcoming space where families feel valued, heard, and supported—a place where they can confidently connect with others, access resources, and find the help they need in a nurturing environment.

What You’ll Do:

Be the Heart of Our Centre: Create a welcoming, warm environment where families feel supported and understood.
Lead Dynamic Programmes: Design, coordinate, and lead an engaging programme of activities and events that cater to the diverse needs of our families, both within our centre and in the broader community.
Daily Drop-in Support: Offer a compassionate ear and practical advice to families dealing with a range of challenges, from parenting issues to financial hardships.
Collaborate and Innovate: Build strong relationships with other organisations that operate within our family support centre, ensuring a holistic approach that provides our families with seamless access to the full spectrum of services and support they need.
Connect and Empower: Foster strong connections among families, creating supportive communities that empower parents to thrive.
Be the Bridge: Serve as the key liaison between families and appropriate external service providers as well as our own in-house programmes, ensuring that everyone involved is working together effectively.
Ensure Safeguarding and Safety: Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding, ensuring that all families are in a safe environment. Respond to safeguarding concerns promptly and effectively, maintaining a vigilant approach to the welfare of all those who engage with our centre.
Stay Organised: Keep accurate records of all interactions and support provided, ensuring everything is documented to the highest standard. This includes collecting evidence and writing detailed case studies to demonstrate the impact of our work, which is essential for reporting to funders and securing ongoing support.

Desirable Experience:

We are looking for someone ideally with a background in charity work, family support, community engagement, or a related field. Experience in developing and managing events is also highly desirable. Please note that a valid DBS check will be required for this role.

Dadzclub Project Worker - Southampton (Saturday mornings)

Salary £3,120 per annum

Hours 5 hours per week (3.5 on Saturdays and 1.5 worked flexibly)

Duration: 1 Year (Expectation to remain in post/within the organisation subject to funding)

Location: Southampton

Responsible to: Senior Coordinator

We are seeking to recruit Project Workers (Male or Female) at Clovelly Family Hub In Southampton

The Successful applicants will need to be available to attend some midweek training as part of the onboarding process.

Our weekly in-person meetups are the perfect opportunity to connect with other dads who understand the joys and challenges of parenting. We believe that dads should have a place where they can come together, chat, and form meaningful connections.

But that's not all! At Dadzclub, we take fun seriously! Our engaging, creative, and playful weekend groups are designed to bring father figures and their children together for quality time. Whether you're looking for a chance to bond with your child or simply looking for a fun activity to do together, we've got you covered.

And the best part? Dadzclub is more than just a social group. We actively work with other organisations to improve access to services for fathers, raise awareness of health and parenting issues affecting men, and promote discussions around allyship and gender equity. So not only are you having fun and connecting with other dads and their children, but you're also making a positive impact on the world around you.

Role and responsibilities:

Facilitate a fun and engaging Saturday morning stay and play group for fathers and their children
Providing healthy snacks and refreshments
Providing advice and guidance, signposting towards appropriate support services.
Provide simple admin duties as part of a team in our Dadzclub online community

Additional Responsibilities:

Work as part of a wider Dadzclub team
Be able to attend training courses
Maintain accurate records and reports, documenting progress and program achievements.
Manage a small budget, track spending, report monthly finances.
Provide ad hoc support as agreed.
Any other duty as required by the line manager commensurate with the post.

To be successful in this role you will need to:

The successful applicant will either be a dad themselves or someone who has equivalent knowledge and experience in working in this type of setting
Have a natural flair of confidence and a good communicator with both adults and children,
Be creative and able to plan engaging activities for adults and children of all ages,
Be passionate about parenting and be willing to undergo training to further develop your knowledge and understanding.
Be an advocate and positive role model to the important role fathers play in children’s lives and be a proven ally to all parents.
Work collaboratively alongside colleagues to deliver high quality, consistent and reliable support for families using our services,
Enjoy developing positive working relationships with the local community, the local authority, charity and third sector organisations in order to create a network of support for families,
Possess a passion for Portsmouth and the diverse communities, organisations and events that make up the city,
Understand the importance of safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection, and follow TPN policies and procedures.
Be available to work Saturday mornings

Desirable attributes:

Have experience working with families and/or children and young people,
Have experience of working with support services, community organisations or groups and have an understanding of the available local support on offer to families,
Be a car driver.
